Replacing a color on a layer

If I am painting on different layers using the paint brush and I decide I would like to change the color on one layer without affecting the area around the color, is there a way of changing the color.
Lock out the transparent area and only paint on the painted area.

Hello,

You have a couple of options. There is the Filter > Color Adjustment > Replace Color filter.

Or you just use the magic wand selection tool to select the color, then you can paint within the selection.

Thank you Kirstin. I will see which option fits my work/art. I am new here and hope this program would take the place of other programs I use for my digital art.
